Camps

The Arts+ Band Camp has been a staple in the Charlotte region for over two decades. Students will perform alongside and under the direction of the finest conductors and instructors from across Charlotte and the surrounding areas. Enjoy a week of bands, combos, improvisation, games, and master classes. The week will finish with a free concert on Friday afternoon, open to the public and featuring special guest performers and our solo competition winner.

SPECIAL ELECTIVES AND INTEREST AREAS
Throughout the week, there will be small group electives on various topics, including jazz band, chamber music, improvisation, master classes, theory, and solo work. Students will be able to tailor their camp experience to their areas of interest and get the most out of this week of musical exploration.

New to the Arts+ summer lineup, Band 101 is designed for middle school students who are interested in joining a band! No experience is required. This camp is perfect for students who have never been in a band before, or who have some band experience but want to change instruments.

Available instruments: Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, and beginning Percussion.

PREREQUISITES
Green and Blue Bands: Students must have at least one school year's worth of instruction on their instrument and be able to read music for their instrument.

END OF CAMP CONCERT
Campers will perform the music they have learned this week in a special concert on Friday. The performance will be at 4:00 p.m., and camp will be dismissed at the concert's conclusion. Students will wear their camp T-shirts for the concert. Additional information will be sent out the week of camp.

MERIT AWARDS
Merit Awards of $50 toward camp tuition will be given to students who are members of the Charlotte Symphony Youth Orchestra (CSYO), Youth Orchestras of Charlotte (YOC), Union Symphony Youth Orchestra (USYO), All-State Band, All-District Band, All-District Jazz Band, and All-County Band and Orchestra. Contact our Student Services Coordinator before completing your registration at registration@artsplus.org to process a merit award.

TALENT-BASED SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
We award full-tuition scholarships, based on audition: the Bill Williams Memorial Scholarship and the Tosco Music Scholarship (either Orchestra or Band Camp). Advanced students who have registered may audition in June. Both scholarships are for the full camp tuition. The Bill Williams Memorial Scholarship winner will also have the honor of performing one movement of a concerto or a solo piece at the final camp concert. Please email Ashleigh Cook, Band Camp Director, at bandcamp@artsplus.org if you are interested in auditioning, in order to schedule an audition in June. The winner will have their tuition waived upon selection by the audition committee.

FINANCIAL AID
