Discovering Strings and Art Camp
Camp Description
Our Discovering Strings and Art Camp is a great way to introduce your student to all that music and visual art have to offer. With a focus on violin or cello, students will lay the foundation to play an instrument—it's amazing what skills they can learn in just one week! Ignite creativity and strengthen academic skills with a wide variety of fun activities including singing, music and movement, an introduction to each member of the string instrument family, painting, collage, collaborative 3D projects, and more. This camp is designed for children in rising grades K-5, but campers are grouped by age level, allowing for different projects, activities, and curricular goals. Each day we will enjoy open recreation time with games and integrative S.T.E.A.M. activities, allowing your budding artist to experience all the advantages that the arts have to offer. Families can share in the fun at the Camp Concert and Showcase, held on the final afternoon of each session.
All are welcome and there's no experience necessary to join in on the fun! This camp experience will start kids off on a creative journey in music and art that will last a lifetime.
PREREQUISITES

Our camp follows the philosophy of the Suzuki Method for teaching string instruments. Arts+ boasts the largest Suzuki program in the Charlotte area! Learn more about the history and principles of the Suzuki Method or learn more about Arts+'s Carolina Suzuki Strings program.
CAN WE REPEAT CAMPS?
Yes! It is certainly possible for an interested student to take the camp again. Students can reinforce their knowledge on their chosen instrument, or could decide to try out cello the next camp if they did violin the first time. Visual Art projects also change from week to week.
END OF CAMP MINI-CONCERT
The students will showcase what they have learned and created this week in a mini-concert at 3 p.m. on the last day of camp.
