Opportunity for Community

The Arts+ Community Campus

Arts+ Community Campus

Creating the Campus

Arts+ was selected to redevelop the Plaza Presbyterian Church site by the Presbytery of Charlotte, given its vision of creating a community campus. Arts+ will breathe new life into three existing buildings and grounds. Arts+ has an attractive 50-year lease with three 10-year extensions for one dollar per year.

Plans

  • Convert the sanctuary into a performance space for the Charlotte community
  • Build a gallery that connects the campus’s buildings and makes them accessible
  • Upfit existing infrastructure

To complete this exciting vision, Arts+ will raise $16 million to transform the campus.

Benefits

  • The new presence in Plaza Midwood will create a community asset, allowing Arts+ to play a meaningful role in the community’s performing arts scene and grow their brand.
  • Arts+ will be able to offer group classes, workshops, and summer camps onsite, while continuing to offer additional programs throughout the greater Charlotte area.
  • The gallery will allow Arts+ to highlight work from its students and faculty and local artists.
  • Arts+ will consolidate operations under one roof, avoiding $200k+ of rent and other expenses.

Impact

Arts+ will expand existing offerings and

  • Create 15+ new programs across music, visual art, and digital media
  • Serve thousands more children and adult artists and musicians
  • Partner with numerous more community organizations
