In this 4-week intermediate course, students will expand upon their knowledge of CMYK process and exposing screens with multiple layers. Students will build upon basic images to create colorful prints using a 4-color system. Each participant will be able to choose and bring in one digital image based upon a favorite band, musician, or music genre. Students will print a final image on poster paper and a textile of choice (a tea towel, shirt, or tote). A variety of inks will be used to expand personal aesthetics including puff ink, glitter ink, and reflective ink. Students will leave this course feeling confident in creating hand-printed images on a variety of surfaces.

Students can expect to learn:

• How to break an image into 4 layers of CMYK color
• How to register/align an image to line up for 4 color layers
• How to set up images digitally, print them, and expose screens for printing
• How to print on paper and textile

PREREQUISITES

Some experience in screen printing, printmaking, or working in Photoshop is helpful.

PARKING AND ARRIVAL

Arts+ Uptown Studios (601 E. 5th St): Parking can be accessed via the lot on 5th St. (which is a one-way street) just past the front entrance of the building. The lot can also be accessed on N. Alexander St. The arm for the parking lot will raise as you enter. Parking is free and you do not need a code to enter or exit. If the lot is full, parking can be found on the surrounding streets at meters.

When you enter the building, please sign in at the front desk using the iPads and enter ArtsPlus (Arts+) as the organization you are visiting. Take the elevator to the 2nd floor and make an immediate left.

When you leave, please sign out at the front on the iPads. If you are parked in the parking lot, simply go to the gate and press the green exit button.
