Collage 101

Class Description
In this introductory collage class, students will explore floral and fractal designs and elements through collage. Through traditional and experimental techniques participants will learn about proportion, color, and contrast within imagery. Both found objects/materials and constructed images will be used to create large and visually striking works. There will be an overview of adhesives, both commercial and homemade, as well as papers, fibers, and found object use. Tom Thoune is a celebrated local mosaic and multimedia artist whose work can be found throughout the Charlotte area. His current interests include exploring the human canon (body proportions) as a way to connect with his personal experience and physicality. Join him in this class that will focus on thinking like an artist and developing a curiosity for materials and methods. All supplies included!
