Junior Orchestra Camp

Camp Description

Do you dream of joining an orchestra for the first time? This is the camp for you!

Designed for growing students in grades K - 2 who have little to no experience playing in an orchestra or ensemble, this camp will be dive into the world of string ensemble playing and take students to the next level as young musicians. Our camp is a fun week of musical games, music and movement activities, small chamber ensembles, and an introduction to orchestra music and note reading to challenge us to be the best players we can be!

The camp will conclude on Friday with a concert to showcase all the players have learned this week! If you've never played a string instrument before, our Discovering Strings Camp could be perfect for you!

SAMPLE DAY SCHEDULE:
9:00 - Musicianship Class
10:10 - Snack Break
10:30 - Purple Time: Rehearsal with Red and Blue Orchestras
11:00 - Guest Musician
11:30 - Chamber Ensemble Coachings
12:00 - Lunch Break
12:30 - Art or Recess
1:00 - Orchestra Rehearsal
1:45 - Dalcroze Eurhythmics Class
2:30 - Pick Up

END OF CAMP CONCERT
Campers will perform the music they have learned this week in a special concert on Friday, joining up with the older students in the String Orchestra Camp running simultaneously this week. Students will wear their camp t-shirts for the concert. Additional information will be sent out the week of camp.

PREREQUISITES
Students must have at least 9 months of instruction on their instrument. Experience with note reading is not required.

INSTRUMENTS
Students should have their own instrument. Please contact our Camp Director if you need recommendations on instrument rentals/purchases.

COST
$280 + $35 registration fee

FINANCIAL AID

The safety of your camper, along with our faculty and staff, is of utmost importance as the COVID-19 pandemic continues. Arts+ is dedicated to following CDC guidelines and recommendations of local health organizations. This includes required mask-wearing for all camp participants, temperature checks upon arrival, social distancing, small-group activities, well-ventilated indoor spaces, and frequent sanitizing of hands and surfaces.
