Our Intermediate Ukulele Camp is designed for campers who already know the basics of the ukulele and are looking to learn some new songs, chords, and tricks! (If you’re new to the ukulele, please check out our Discovering Ukulele Camp instead!)

This camp will empower young players to reach new heights and potential with advanced strumming techniques, more challenging songs, developing their library of songs, and increasing their mastering of more complicated chords.

The Intermediate Ukulele Camp focuses heavily on collaborative playing with other campers, not only learning advanced playing skills but also learning to play in a ukulele band with others. We will focus on programming and song choices led by students’ interests, paired with technique, theory, and skill growth sessions provided by talented music educators.

SAMPLE DAY SCHEDULE:

8:45 - Gathering

9 a.m. - Welcome Time

9:20 a.m. - Small Group Instructional Time

10 a.m. - Full Group Activity

10:30 a.m. - Snack

10:45 a.m. - Team Building Game

11:30 a.m. - Lunch

Noon - Visual Art Activity or/ Special Topic Activity

12:45 p.m. - Jam Session

1:30 p.m. - Small Group Instructional Time

2:30 p.m. - Snack/Break

2:45 p.m. - Guest Musician

3:30 p.m. - Wrap-Up Review

4 p.m. - Student Pickup

INSTRUMENTS
Arts+ has ukuleles that the students may borrow during the camp (but cannot be taken home). Campers may also bring their own ukulele to the camp. You can reach out to our camp director with any questions you might have about the instrument. We will be using Soprano Ukuleles, which are standard at approximately 20 ¾ or 21 inches in length. If you are bringing your own ukulele, make sure that you have the correct size, as some Sopranino or “Pocket” Ukuleles which are commonly purchased at the store are too small for our purposes, at approximately 16 inches in length.

END OF CAMP MINI-CONCERT
The students will showcase what they have learned and created this week in a mini-concert on the last day of camp. The showcase will begin at 3:15 p.m. More information will be sent out the week of the camp.

PREREQUISITES
This camp is designed for students who already have been playing the ukulele for a few months. THIS IS NOT A BEGINNING UKULELE CAMP (Please check out our Discovering Ukulele Camp designed for new players). Campers do not need to be experts (this is not an “advanced” camp), but campers need to be able to play and change between the following chords consistently and rhythmically: C, Amin, F, and G. Extra bonus chords that might be helpful to know in advance are C7, G7, and Emin.
