Dzidra Reimanis

Dzidra Reimanis was born in Rite, Latvia and attended the Teachers Institute of the State and the Music School of Jelgava. After moving to Germany, her studies continued at the Musikgymnasium and the International Refugee Organization where she attended private piano lessons. Dzidra moved to America in 1949 and began privately studying piano at Queens University under the mentorship of Elsie Mosley. It was through Elsie’s instruction that Dzidra decided to make music education her career. She began teaching private piano lessons and became one of the first faculty members of Arts+ in 1969. Dzidra also attended the Cleveland Institute of Music for summer training as well as several semester-long master classes at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. When Dzidra isn’t teaching, she enjoys reading and gardening, and her favorite works of music are Beethoven’s 32 Sonatas.
