Andrea Vail

Andrea Vail is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University (MFA) and the UNC-Charlotte (BFA). She is the recipient of the ASC Regional Project Grant; North Carolina Arts Council Visual Artist Fellowship (2016-17); HappeningsCLT Visual Artist Grant; CultureWORKS Richmond Arts and Cultural District MicroGrant; and residencies at Goodyear Arts, McColl Center for Art + Innovation, and Elsewhere. Her work has been exhibited at Waterworks Visual Arts Center (Salisbury, NC); Sediment Gallery (Richmond, VA); Hoffman Gallery, Oregon College of Art and Craft, (Portland, OR); Sandra J. Blain Gallery, Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts (Gatlinburg, TN); Emily Davis Gallery, The University of Akron (Akron, OH); Form & Concept (Santa Fe, NM); Cameron Art Museum (Wilmington, NC).Vail’s projects include: Signalling Hello, a process-based greeting initiative that shares genuine encounters with pedestrians, Elsewhere, Greensboro, NC; COLLECTING_PILE, an interactive art work which involves the community as both content and collaborator; Friendge, an ongoing global invitation to collaborate; DancePartyPotty, an interactive response to HB2 at McColl Center for Art + Innovation; Woven Community, a citywide weaving event (Richmond, VA); and Gathering Clouds at Anderson Gallery (Richmond, VA).
